I'm on a roll!

Or maybe I am nesting?  That is, if you consider online shopping "nesting" than yes that's it for sure.  Jax's room is coming together in my mind beautifully, albeit slowly.  I'll go ahead and spill/show more details now since I am too excited to keep it a secret any longer.  So you all know it's a "Vintage Surf Shack" theme, right?  Ok from the picture I posted a week ago, the walls are painted (still needs another coat which is being done today), and I had bamboo fencing/paneling installed with bamboo half rounds as trim/chair rails.  It's amazing, truly.  My goal is to have all of the decor in his room be vintage, antique or found or hand-made by yours truly, wish me luck :-)

My first inspirational vision was brought to me by seeing this idea on a blog I check out on the reg.  Only, I wanted to spruce it up a bit and suddenly a light bulb went off - DRIFTWOOD!  So one afternoon I loaded up my husband, daughter and the puppy and we set out for a local beach where I suspected I might find some.  I parked at the most remote, rockiest, desolate part of Honeymoon Island and we all got out and started walking on some semi-treacherous terrain whilst the wind and dark clouds were rolling in pretty rapidly.  I saw a ginormous uprooted tree stump that had washed up on the shore and began to squeal with delight.  I waddled my fat bottom over to it and saw my pot of gold.  I found the perfect piece of driftwood for my project, picked it up and hauled it back to my vehicle and threw it in the trunk.  I then grabbed my camera and returned to my family who was perched on the bench swing you see in the photo from 2 posts back.  About 1.5678 milliseconds later, the sideways rain started pecking at us and we knew it was time to go.  I did not care.  I was there for one reason and I got my prize.  I am so proud of my find and can't wait to finish that project.  It's still drying out so it may take a while.  But I gave myself a pat on the back for this one :-)

Bedding
Really not that compelling.  I didn't want to spend hours searching for the perfect bedding like I did with Ava when after a while I didn't even like it all that much.  I found this stuff on sale, love the colors and it goes perfectly with the theme.
I only got the quilt, fitted sheet and bumper since that's all that's really needed anyway.  I am debating on whether or not I want to do a "grass skirt" or raffia for the crib skirt or if I want to leave it alone.  I am not a fan of overkill.  All of the above came from PBK, on sale.

Wall decor
Here's where the fun begins!  Along with the driftwood project, I had these made a while ago and they've been waiting patiently in his closet to be hung.
They do read all different cities than shown above, mostly places we've been to or would love to travel to in the future.  Again, I love the colorful, whimsical cheeriness of them.  I got them from ebay seller signshopnmore.
The cathedral wall space above his closet will boast three different vintage items displayed in such a way as to give off a "let's go surfing NOW" appeal.  Here are those items:
Cluster of life preserver rings in these colors

This vintage wooden oar, from ebay seller joelandkathleen
That awesome red, white & blue short board you see in the middle marked "SOLD" - yea that's all mine.  From www.chubbysurf.com

Ahhh so finally some exciting updates!  I have asked my wonderful husband to start getting the "equipment" out of the attic so I can start to sanitize things.  Boppy pillow, bouncy seat, car seat & bases, swing etc.  Also he is going to put together the co-sleeper/bassinet.  I guess we are gearing up for survival mode in a few short weeks.  Hey, at least Jax's room will be nothing short of awesome :-)  Pics will be posted as it all comes together.

I am 35 weeks, 4 days - and he is estimated to weigh 6 pounds already from the ultrasound I had on Thursday.  Not much longer now.  I see the light at the end of the tunnel :-)

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!!!

Testing some pictures

I am hearing that if you link photos here from Flickr, the quality is preserved.  Here's Miss Ava on the 4th of July showing off her festive dress.  Oh how I love this little girl.

Happy 4th of July

And here's another of my cute lil family.

Teaser Nusery Pic

So our handyman Steve has been hard at work the past couple of days working on Jax's room.  It's now painted and my vision is coming to life.  I am so uber-excited to see it all come together.  Here's a sneak peek at what I am so very excited about:

Unfortunately "pregnancy brain" is currently preventing me from recalling if I've mentioned the theme for his room or not so I'll just spill it now.  It's going to be a vintage surf shack.  I have many more visions up my sleeve but for now this picture shows the bamboo paneling & floor boards I'm having installed, the beautiful paint color and the amazing light fixture I found to match the bamboo just perfectly.  I can't wait until it's all completed, hopefully soon.

I hope everyone has a safe & joyous Fourth of July holiday weekend.  I'll be waddling around the Tampa Bay area somewhere, probably looking for something to eat :-)

I am now 34 weeks, 2 days ----- only 33 more days left!!!

Not so much fun anymore

Where do I start?  I've had a few miserable days and nights lately which was to be expected but it seems to be getting worse.  I'm really trying not to be a debbie downer so I'll just complain and move on with the mentality that it's still temporary and I only have 4 weeks, and 6 days left (or 34 days).  Here's my list of complaints then I will shut up I promise.

Horrible reflux (Tums, chug milk, rinse, repeat) - numerous times per day & night
Can't breathe - dude needs to drop way under my ribs and lungs
Human punching bag - pretty sure most of you saw this video I posted on FB and youtube (this is normal behavior for him and I am starting to get offended)
Back pain - yea there's no avoiding it
Achey hips - prolly because I've downed 4,287 cookies making me weigh more than the Titanic and my hips don't lie - they can't TAKE IT!!
Sleep - pretty non existent these days (see complaint #1)
Contractions - are present but I do not know if they are real or not and they are too random to report to my dr.

Ok I *think* I've gotten it out of my system for now.  I am really looking forward to my 90 minute (yes 90!) pre-natal massage on Saturday morning.  I am even more looking forward to the morning of August 2nd when all of these symptoms I am belly-aching about will magically disappear and I'll be holding in my arms the reason I did it and somehow will just forget they ever ailed me in the first place.

Tata for now!

47 Days Left - But Who's Counting?

Nothing major to report except that I think I have my own gravitational pull.  This belly is getting so heavy but the end is in sight!  47 days!!!  I did have my 31.5 appointment last week.  I got an ultrasound and a few more 3d/4d sneak peeks.  The tech said he has a dimple in his chin but I'm not really buying it.  It really looks like it here but I think it was just distortion in the ultrasound waves.  What do you think?

Here's a recent bare belly pic I took last week at 31 weeks, some odd days:
Lovely, eh?
On to more important things.....SHOPPING!

I felt the need to buy a new duffel bag since I don't really have a cute overnight bag for weekend trips.   I asked my resident Vera Bradley expert BFF Lauren to guide me in the ways of current Vera trends.  I ended up ordering these adorable items:
Large Duffel in Deco Daisy

I also saw the following and decided I must have it as well:
Travel Cosmetic in Twirly Birds Pink
I plan to use my new goodies when I go to the hospital for the extraction.  :-)

I really need to get my butt in gear and get to work on his room.  I have most of the supplies, just have to go pick up the paint and find a certain wall decor item online.  I am keeping his nursery a secret until it's completed because it's going to rock your socks.  I will tease you with one paint color I've chosen.

I couldn't find the exact color from the Valspar website so I will leave you with this inspiration photo.  The aqua color on the wall here is very similar to what will be on the walls in Jax's room.

I am very excited to get things in motion.  I just also realized that this baby will be here in just over 6 weeks and he has a very limited wardrobe.  I need to work on that too.  Oh boy maybe my nesting instinct is kicking in finally?

I must conclude this post for now.  I have a certain 2.5 year old who needs to get out of the house and expel some energy.   I wish everyone a very happy Thursday and to all the fathers out there a very happy Father's Day!!!

30 weeks *YAY*

....and still growing!  I finally feel the little guy when he has hiccups now, it's SO WEIRD!  I can't believe I am about to say this, but, I have actually been feeling fabulous lately.  I think he has dropped a little bit so I am able to breathe much easier and I've had more energy for some odd reason.  I've tried to stop eating junk & crap so maybe that is why.

My wonderful doctor's office called me yesterday to let me know they scheduled my c-section!  It is now official, Jax's birthday will be Tuesday, August 2nd.  Both kids have birthdays on a "2nd" of the month.  How cool is that?  And easy for me to remember as I grow old & senile.

Next dr. appt. is Friday the 10th.  I think I will start having weekly appointments after that since I will be near 32 weeks.

Ahhhh only 8 weeks and 3 days left.....but who's counting?????  haha
